The Victor Varsity and JV Wrestling teams are putting together another strong season. Both teams competed over the holiday break with the Varsity traveling to SUNY Oswego. This tournament was a large one with 43 teams competing and Victor finished in an impressive 10th place. Tournament placements were as follows; Codey Jensen 7th place, Alex Samson 2nd place, Alex Sidare 5th place, Jack Kumpf 7th place, and Mason Everhart in 4th place.

Next the Blue Devils split a pair of duals, dropping one to Hilton HS 48-32 and then rebounding with a win over Cal-Mum 66-12.

The Victor Ahonen Duals were held on January 15th this year due to school closings caused by weather. Victor finished in 2nd place out of the 10 team field, dropping a match to Rush Henrietta in the finals. Codey Jensen went 4-1 on the day, Tucker Hill was 4-1, Alex Samson was 5-0, Alex Sidare was 5-0, Jack Kumpf and Mason Everhart also finished 5-0. Other strong performances were turned in by Adam Barbato and Will Kurz.

Next up for Victor was a dual on 1/17 against Pittsford. These were two evenly matched teams and with 3 weight classes to go Victor trailed 37-24. Alex Sidare and Jack Kumpf both secured first period pins bringing the score to 37-36 Pittsford. Mason Everhart took the mat with the match on the line and dominated his opponent with a 12-0 major decision giving Victor the 40-37 victory.

This Saturday, January 20th the Blue Devils will take part in the Takedown Cancer Duals event at Fairport HS to raise money for Camp Good Days and Special Times. Victor will wrestle at 10 a.m., 12 pm, and 2 pm.
